Friends For Life At Summer Camp

If you didn’t go to summer camp as a child, you will not know the magic of the friendships that you make there, and how summer camp allows you to form extremely close bonds with other people in a very short period of time. These days, with children keeping up easily via email and instant messaging services, these summer camp friendships are very likely to last.
Most of the time a summer camp program will encourage a lot of group activity, and it is through cooperative and survival ‘type’ activities (with no danger involved, usually) that people can become really close to one another in an extremely short span of time.
One of the best things about this type of summer camp is that it brings together young people with similar passions. This is important especially for children whose passion is dance or horseback riding; children who play soccer play it with 15 other kids from their school. Sometimes, a girl who rides horses is the only one at her school with that particular hobby. It’s in this kind of situation that life-long friendships are most likely to be made.
Does the Friendship Really Last?
In many cases, the people who become your best friends during a summer camp program will stay your best friends for years to come. In the course of your childhood you may return to the same camp and meet up every summer for seven or eight summers in a row! Perhaps the first year you were best friends and the second year you fought over the same boy, but then the third through the eighth years you reunited, both jaded by your ex-crush. These are often the friendships that stand the test of time, and it is the summer camp program that makes this experience possible.
There’s just something magical about being at summer camp… no parents, no teachers, every night’s a sleepover. It’s hard to NOT love the experience. Even if you didn’t go to summer camp and have such an experience, or if you went but it wasn’t such a golden time for you, remember that, in general, summer camp is a worthwhile enterprise and many modern kids love it. Look into a summer camp program for your son or daughter today; they’ll be glad you did, and you just might enjoy the peace and quiet too!
